Elon Musk issues two-word verdict on Trump presidency as critics ask same question

Elon Musk has shared his thoughts on 's presidency once again – but it has left people asking the same question. , who announced he would be 'stepping back' from his role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has remained a vocal supporter of the current POTUS on and in interviews.

Taking to his social network – which he bought in October 2022 for $44billion (£33billion) – Musk re-posted an image of a red cap with the two-word slogan "Trump 2032" across the front. Adding his thoughts, he captioned the post: "Think ahead!" – but critics were unsure as to whether Trump would be able to run again in 2028, let alone in 2032.

"My political analyst told me Trump is not eligible for a second term because he had done one term already. Was she wrong? Should I sack her?" one wrote.

"He can’t run again," said another. Others suggested a different member of the Trump family could run in the current president's place.

"Yes, but WHICH Trump?" one person pointed out.

"2028 to 2036 - Donald Trump Jnr, 2036 to 2044 - Eric Trump, 2044 to 2052 - Barron Trump," suggested another.

According to the US Constitution, no president is allowed to be elected for more than two terms. Section One of the 22nd Amendment states:

"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."

However, Trump has spoken out about wanting to serve a third term, despite being just a few months into his second.

Asked in an interview with NBC about the possibility of running for a third time, he said: "There are methods which you could do it."

"I'm not joking... a lot of people want me to do it," he claimed. "But, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it's very early in the administration."

Trump, now 78, will be 82 when his second term comes to an end. In the same interview, he was asked whether he would want to keep what has been described as "the toughest job in the country." "Well, I like working," he said.

In January, he told supporters: "The greatest honour of my life to serve not once, but twice or three times or four times." However, he then claimed this had been a joke targeted at the "fake news media."

Presidential elections take place every four years on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.

The next is scheduled for November 7, 2028 – so it appears Musk has skipped one election cycle with his pledge of support.
