There was plenty to play for on the final day of the season, with a mix of delight and anguish up and down the country. are celebrating a dramatic title win with and sealing play-off qualification , while and will spend next season in League One following relegation.
Leeds left the door open for after falling behind early on against Plymouth through a Sam Byram own goal, only for the Clarets to fall behind themselves when Mihailo Ivanovic netted for Millwall. Both title-chasers were all-square before the hour mark, though, with Josh Brownhill scoring a quickfire Burnley leveller and Willy Gnonto bringing Leeds all-square early in the second half.
Burnley then reclaimed top spot in the as-things-stand table when Jaidon Anthony fired them in front, and got a third as Brownhill scored again. Leeds were still level as they entered stoppage-time, only for Manor Solomon to twist and turn to give them the title right at the death.
Coventry drew first blood against fellow play-off chasers Middlesbrough as Jack Rudoni struck just before the break, with Rudoni's late second making the points safe, but fellow top-six hopefuls Bristol City opened the door for the chasing pack. Emil Riis put Preston in front at Ashton Gate, and the goal could have had implications at the other end of the table were it not for Luton's capitulation away to , who scored their fifth goal shortly after the hour mark.
Hull needed a point of their own to take advantage of the Hatters' defeat, though. The Tigers went ahead away to Portsmouth, which spelled bad news for Luton, but Pompey made it 1-1 at Fratton Park through substitute Chris Saydee to leave Hull nerves jangling - holding on through a tense final few minutes as Luton got back to 5-3 but couldn't complete a miracle comeback.

Going into the day, Leeds sat atop the table on goal difference, while Bristol City and Coventry City poised to join Shefield United and in the play-off. Victory fot the pair would guarantee a chance at promotion via the play-offs, but several teams had a chance to catch them if they slipped up.
At the other end of the table, were already relegated before kick-off while 23rd-place Plymouth needed a goal difference miracle to escape the drop. There were still five other teams at risk of relegation, though, with Hull the ones in the bottom three before kick-off.
At Ashton Gate, Preston knew a win would keep them up, and doubled their lead through Milutin Osmajic on the hour. A City defeat would mean Millwall or Blackburn could leapfrog them with a win, but Ryan Manning's side didn't want to leave things to chance and Ross McCrorie pulled one back before grabbing his second of the game to make it 2-2 - leaving Preston grateful for Luton's struggles.
As Luton kept conceding goals, Hull's task became simple. They held on for the point they needed, and it's Luton who will drop down to the third tier.
For the teams in the play-offs, there isn't much time to regroup. The semi-final first legs take place on May 8-9, with the second legs on May 12-13, while the final will take place on May 24.
