Currently starring in The Accountant 2 on the big screen, Ben Affleck has just named some of his favourite movies of all time - and a number of them are currently streaming.
Appearing on a recent edition of Criterion Closet Picks, the Gone Girl star had his cinephile dreams come true when he was invited to browse the prestigious Criterion Collection and pick out some of his favourite titles.
During his time in the closet, Affleck highlights a number of movies you can buy as part of the collection or, for film buffs who don’t want to break the bank, are also available to stream.

Included on the list are Hollywood Shuffle, Bull Durham and Silence of the Lambs, which you can find on Prime Video.
You can also stream Amy Heckerling’s iconic high school comedy Fast Times at Ridgemont High on Sky Go and NOW, as well as Armageddon, which stars Affleck alongside Bruce Willis and Liv Tyler, on Disney+.
However, just one of the films mentioned is currently available to watch completely for free.
Spike Lee’s seminal 1992 biopic Malcolm X, starring Denzel Washington as the influential civil rights activist, is currently streaming on BBC iPlayer. Affleck describes the movie as “life-changing”.
“There is not a performance I can think of that’s better than this,” he said of Washington.
“I remember where I was when I watched it,” Affleck continued. “I remember when I walked out I thought, ‘I want to be a better man’.
“It was the first time a movie has touched me in that kind of profound way.”
Film critics and fans hold Lee’s masterpiece in equally high esteem, as it currently holds an impressive 89 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, with audiences loving it even more, giving it 91 percent.
One short five-star review on Letterboxd put it simply, describing the film as “the pinnacle of biopics.”

Another rave review with a perfect score said: “A genuine masterpiece. Denzel Washington gives one of the greatest performances of all time.”
Someone else gushed: “This had the most greatest, most bada** opening in cinematic history. Spike’s decision from the burning flag to the Rodney King footage. Malcolm’s words brought to life by Denzel.
“Terrance Blanchard’s trumpet wailing in the back. Flawless. It’s 2020 and this is still relevant today more than ever. Hands down the best Spike Lee movie imo.”
While a final fan wrote: “I am completely blown away. I was choking up with tears rolling down my face for the entire final 5 minutes.
“One of the longest films I've ever seen and it never drags for a second. Everything from directing/acting/cinematography works across the board.”
Could this be the greatest biopic ever made? Find out for yourself by streaming Malcolm X on BBC iPlayer this weekend.
