Baghpat: A head constable was shot and killed by a teacher in Baghpat following a dispute that originated during a cricket match. The altercation escalated with heated exchanges on social media, leading the teacher to plan the fatal attack.
On Sunday night, as Head Constable Ajay Pawar was returning home to Sunheda village, the accused teacher, Mohit, ambushed him near a well. Mohit opened fire, and despite Ajay's attempt to flee, he was shot in the stomach, with the bullet passing clean through. Ajay collapsed and was pronounced dead at a private hospital after being rushed there by family and villagers.
Ajay, who was a Head Constable in Saharanpur's cyber cell, was on leave for a housewarming ceremony. Mohit, an assistant teacher in a government primary school in Saharanpur, was also on leave. The initial cricket match dispute turned serious after both men posted inflammatory comments against each other online.

Four teams have been formed to apprehend the absconding accused. Ajay was married four years ago and has two young children, while Mohit was married six years ago and his wife is also a teacher.
