In a shocking case in Pune, a 17-year-old boy has been sent to the Juvenile Observation Home after he molested a 20-year-old woman in a lift of a building in Kasba Peth.
The video of this incident is going viral on social media, with some users attempting to give it a Hindu-Muslim spin. However, when The Free Press Journal spoke to the police, they clarified that no such communal angle exists in the case.
Prashant Bhasme, Senior Police Inspector, Farashkhana Police Station, told this newspaper, "The accused has been identified as a 17-year-old minor, residing in Kasba Peth. The victim used to provide tiffin in a building located in the area. The accused entered the lift, and when the lift stopped on the third floor, he molested her and fled. The incident took place on April 2 at 8:20pm."
"We detained the accused on April 16 and sent him to the Juvenile Observation Home in Yerawada. There is no prior case against him. Further investigation is underway."
