Mumbai: The Deonar police have arrested a cricket coach, Rajendra Nanasaheb Pawar,37, on charges of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl who was his trainee. Pawar, was taken into custody on August 5. This is not the first time Pawar has been on the police radar; he was also an accused in a molestation case registered in 2023 at the same police station.
About The Case
According to the police, the victim, a resident of Ghatkopar, was attending Pawar’s cricket academy located on a ground in the Govandi area near the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road. The police report states that Pawar allegedly befriended the girl and then sexually assaulted her between May 28 and August 4.

Her family promptly filed a complaint, leading to Pawar's arrest. A case has been registered against him under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation is ongoing.
