Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 45-year-old man, Rakesh Rathore, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his home in the Chhatripura area, leaving his family and neighbours in shock. His decomposed body was discovered two days after he was last seen.
Rakesh had been living alone for some time. His wife and children had been staying at her parents’ home for the past few years. When Rakesh didn’t respond to calls or show up as expected, a concerned relative living nearby decided to check on him.
He found the door locked and and nobody responded even after he knocked on the door multiple times. At last, he took the help of neighbours and they managed to enter the house through a window—only to find Rakesh’s lifeless body inside the house.
Police were called immediately. According to initial observations, there were no visible injuries on the body. Officers suspect he may have fallen while under the influence of alcohol. However, they maintained that the cause of death would be confirmed only after the post-mortem report.

Rakesh’s family had to endure further distress due to delays and confusion over the post-mortem.
The family alleged that despite their requestthat the autopsy be conducted at the district hospital the police reportedly sent the body to MY Hospital, where staff refused to carry out the post-mortem.
With no option, the family then took the body to the district hospital. However, doctors there said that due to the advanced stage of decomposition, the post-mortem would have to be done at MY Hospital after all.
They issued the necessary documents, and the body was once again transported—this time back to MY Hospital, where the autopsy was finally conducted on Wednesday.
The back-and-forth during an already painful time only added to the family's emotional burden.
