Samantha Ruth Prabhu has always been open about her personal struggles and health journey. After bravely sharing her battle with myositis, an autoimmune condition, she has become an inspiration to many. Now, the actress has revealed something that many of us might relate to, her unhealthy attachment to her mobile phone.
‘I Couldn’t Control It’: Samantha on Phone Addiction
In a recent episode of her health podcast Take 20, Samantha spoke about how, despite making major positive changes in her life, her phone usage remained a problem. “I had made so many changes in my life, and I was pretty happy with the routine I had created for myself. The one thing that I couldn't control was this... Going to the phone,” she said.
She reflected on how it gave her a “false sense of importance” by convincing her that every message or notification was work-related and urgent. This constant need to check her phone left her feeling restless and overwhelmed.
Samantha Took a 3-Day Silence Retreat
To break free from this digital dependence, Samantha chose to attend a three-day silent retreat. This meant no mobile phone, no communication, no eye contact, no reading or writing, a complete mental reset.
She shared, “Your brain just comes down.” The experience helped her slow down and truly connect with herself, without any outside noise.
Samantha's Fierce Reply to Trolls
Recently, Samantha also responded to body-shaming trolls on Instagram. After being criticised for looking too thin, she posted a video of herself doing bar pull-ups and wrote, “Here’s the deal. You don’t get to call me skinny, sickly or any of that crap unless you can do 3 of these first. If you can’t… Then read between the frikkin lines…”
Fans praised her for the powerful message and her focus on strength over appearance.
What’s Next for Samantha?
On the work front, Samantha was recently seen in Citadel: Honey Bunny alongside Varun Dhawan. She also made a cameo appearance in her first production, Subham, which was well-received. She now has two exciting projects coming up, a Telugu film titled Maa Inti Bangaram and an action-packed web series Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom.
