A suspected member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has been arrested by Canadian police in relation to a shooting incident at the home of popular Punjabi singer AP Dhillon on Victoria Island, Canada.
The individual has been identified as 25-year-old Abhijeet Kingra from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a second suspect, 23-year-old Vikram Sharma, who is believed to have fled to India following the incident.
Although Canadian police do not have a photo of Sharma, they provided a description: "Vikram Sharma is a South Asian man, standing 5'9" tall and weighing around 200 pounds (about 90 kg). He has black hair and brown eyes."
The shooting took place on the night of September 1, involving multiple gunshots fired at Dhillon's residence and two vehicles being set ablaze. A circulating video showed a man firing an automatic pistol outside the house at night.
A Salman Khan link?
This occurred shortly after the release of Dhillon's latest music video, "Old Money," which featured Salman Khan.
Reports indicated that Rohit Godara, an aide of Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the shooting, saying he had asked Dhillon not to sign on for gigs with Khan.
Canadian police confirmed that Kingra was arrested in Ontario on October 30.
"He has been charged in connection with recklessly discharging a firearm into a residence as well as setting fire to two vehicles," a Canadian police personnel was quoted as saying.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday. Godara, who was last known to be shuttling between Portugal and Azerbaijan, is suspected to have escaped to the U.S. using illicit routes.
Interpol issued a red corner notice for him in December of last year at the request of Indian law enforcement agencies.
