Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said AICC’s OBC Advisory Council will meet in Bengaluru on July 15 while clarifying that the party leadership has appointed him on the 24-member panel, and not as its chairman.
About 50 former Congress CMs, sitting and former MPs and MLAs from different states will participate in the meeting, he said in a post on X. AICC OBC Cell head Anil Jaihind will chair the event, he added.
The meeting will discuss plans to uplift the backward classes, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar told the media in Kanakapura.
Shivakumar said it was he who had suggested that the OBC Advisory Council’s meeting be held at the Pradesh Congress Committee office in Bengaluru as the state was ruled by the Congress.
