The young Mumbai batter has arrived for training at the Wankhede Stadium and will be representing the five-time champions against their biggest rivals, Mumbai Indians, as the two sides play the reverse fixture on April 20. Notably, CSK defeated Mumbai Indians at home in their previous meeting this season.
The young 17-year-old Mhatre, who has impressed with his performances in domestic cricket, expressed his excitement about playing in the IPL and representing CSK. In a video released by the franchise, he expressed his feelings ahead of potentially his first IPL game at his home venue, the Wankhede Stadium. He also requested the fans to show their support to the team.
“I'm feeling very good, and this is my first experience playing in the IPL. And playing for a team like CSK, I feel very lucky, and another thing is that my first game is at Wankhede Stadium [his home ground], so it feels fantastic. Whenever I travel in Mumbai, I keep remembering the things, and now I am playing at such a big stage, which is very fortunate for me," Mhatre said in a video released by CSK’s handle on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“Myself Ayush Mhatre, and I request you and all the Yellove Army fans, all the Chennai Super Kings fans to keep supporting us. We surely won't disappoint you," the young batter added.
