Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 15 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray expressed hope on "getting justice in the court of the people" as he referred to the announcement of election schedule for Maharashtra on Tuesday.
The assembly elections in Maharashtra will be held in a single phase on November 20, with votes to be counted on November 23, as per the Election Commission of India.
Speaking to reporters, Aaditya Thackeray said, "We have been waiting for this for the last 2 years. Elections have been announced. We had hoped for justice from the Court but it didn't happen. We now hope that we will get justice in the court of the people."
"We have been seeing the loot of Maharashtra for the last 2 years, unemployed youth are everywhere but all the industries and job opportunities are going to Gujarat. The entire Maharashtra knows that the state has been run by Gujarat for the last 2 years," he added.
"The upcoming Assembly elections will show that Maharashtra will be run by Maharashtra and will listen only to its voice," Aaditya Thackeray said.
In the recent parliamentary elections to 48 seats in the state, the opposition MVA fared well. The BJP's share fell to 9 seats, down from 23 seats five years ago. MVA secured 30 seats.
In the 2019 assembly election, the BJP won 105 seats and the Congress 44. (ANI)
