'Takes This Sh** Down!' James Gunn & DC Face Backlash For New Superman Teaser; Watch

Send Push

When James Gunn’s first Superman teaser dropped a few months ago, fans around the world went into a frenzy. However, the excitement seems to have faded, as the latest teaser is now facing a wave of backlash.

The teaser

The teaser opens with a scene reminiscent of the first one, featuring Superman injured and stranded in a snow-covered, unidentified landscape. Soon after, Krypto arrives and carries him to the healers. However, the new teaser stretches this entire sequence for over three and a half minutes before shifting focus to other elements, including glimpses of the villains and supporting characters.

The reactions

Fans are bashing James Gunn for the teaser, stating the poor graphics and colour grading.

One social media user commented, “Mr Gunn I have loved every project you have done. This time you lost me... I can't I get it its scifi so basic laws dont apply but Superman is not Solar powered via light but radiation... and radiation on earth doesnt work like that....”

Another user commented, “Starting to bore even myself, but does anyone else feel like Hollywood is way too focused on the safe and familiar lately? Superman, Naked Gun, Karate Kid… again? Where are the new big stories — the ones that actually take risks?”

One user reacted, “So excited for this but PLEASE fix the color grading i am BEGGING you!!! it looks good for the fortress of solitude scenes but almost everything else it looks terrible for. for example it is making the daily planet scenes look really god awful which is such a shame with how beautiful that set is. the outdoor scenes honestly look absolutely fugly. i know you love the cinematographer but i think a second colorist wouldn’t be a bad idea. this is honestly some of the worst color grading i have seen for a blockbuster. it’s gonna be a hard watch for ur neurodivergent film nerds. however this is really my only critique so far, everything else looks great!”

Another user reacted, “That looks…terrible. SMH. Very sad. Superman is my favorite hero but I won’t be watching this.”

About Superman

Written and directed by James Gunn, Superman stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, and Nathan Fillion in the lead roles.
