The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has unveiled a new feature called ‘UPI Help’, an AI-powered digital assistant designed to make India’s digital payment ecosystem faster, safer, and more transparent. The feature will help millions of UPI users manage their transactions, raise complaints, and track payment-related issues seamlessly — without visiting banks or customer care centers.
What is ‘UPI Help’?‘UPI Help’ is an intelligent support system developed by NPCI to enhance user experience across UPI platforms. It enables users to:
- Check the status of ongoing or failed transactions,
- File complaints directly through their UPI app or bank interface, and
- Track the progress of their complaint in real time.
This new AI-powered feature also supports AutoPay management, allowing users to pause, resume, or cancel recurring payments such as bills, subscriptions, and EMIs with just a few clicks. NPCI aims to make digital payments not only faster but also more user-controlled and transparent.
Accessible Across Multiple PlatformsNPCI has ensured that the ‘UPI Help’ feature will be easily accessible on multiple platforms. It is now integrated with:
- Bank websites and mobile apps,
- The official DigiSaathi portal, and
- Popular UPI applications like Google Pay, Paytm, PhonePe, and BHIM UPI.
This multi-platform approach ensures that users can access help instantly, regardless of which UPI app or bank they use. Importantly, the entire process will function at the bank level, meaning both banks and customers will collaboratively resolve issues in real time.
Faster Complaint Resolution and Transaction TrackingOne of the biggest pain points in digital payments has been delays in resolving failed or pending transactions. With ‘UPI Help’, NPCI aims to address this challenge by offering an automated, AI-driven workflow that identifies transaction errors and routes them to the concerned bank immediately.
Users will now receive instant updates on payment failures, along with real-time tracking of complaint progress. This not only saves time but also eliminates the need for multiple follow-ups or physical visits to bank branches.
According to NPCI officials, the introduction of ‘UPI Help’ reflects their commitment to building a frictionless, secure, and reliable payment ecosystem for India’s growing digital user base.
A Step Toward Smarter and Safer Digital PaymentsIndia’s UPI system processes over 14 billion transactions every month, making it one of the world’s largest real-time payment networks. With such scale, maintaining efficiency and user satisfaction is a continuous challenge. ‘UPI Help’ has been launched to meet this growing need by combining artificial intelligence with consumer convenience.
By using AI, the system can analyze common transaction errors, suggest quick fixes, and help banks identify recurring issues to improve their internal operations. This will also reduce the overall turnaround time for complaint resolutions.
Empowering Digital UsersThe rollout of ‘UPI Help’ aligns with NPCI’s broader vision of promoting digital trust and inclusion in India. For users, this means fewer disruptions, greater control over payments, and enhanced transparency in how their complaints are handled.
With the new feature, users can easily manage everything — from failed transfers to recurring AutoPay setups — through a unified interface. This initiative is expected to enhance user confidence in digital payments and strengthen India’s position as a global leader in fintech innovation.
Key Benefits of NPCI’s ‘UPI Help’- Instant complaint resolution through AI-powered assistance.
- Easy tracking of transaction status and dispute progress.
- Seamless AutoPay management (pause, resume, cancel).
- Available on multiple platforms — banks, UPI apps, and DigiSaathi.

With ‘UPI Help’, NPCI has taken another significant step toward a smarter, more efficient, and user-friendly digital payment experience — one that ensures every UPI user enjoys speed, safety, and simplicity at their fingertips.
