Tottenham star James Maddison makes true Brennan Johnson feelings clear after Man United rout

James Maddison jokingly compared Brennan Johnson to Ronaldo Nazario after his performance in Sunday's 3-0 win at Manchester United.

Wales international Johnson opened the scoring at Old Trafford after three minutes as he was on hand to convert Micky van de Ven's cross after a barnstorming run from the centre of defence. Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke completed the scoring in the second half after Bruno Fernandes had been sent off for United.

Johnson's opener saw him continue his impressive recent form as he made it four goals in as many games across all competition after deleting his Instagram account in the aftermath of suffering abuse after the North London Derby defeat to Arsenal on September 15.

To celebrate Johnson's form, Maddison took to Instagram on Monday to share a photoshopped image of the forward's face merged with an iconic photo of Ronaldo from the 2002 World Cup.

Asked about Johnson's decision to quit social media earlier this month, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou said: "I hate how we've just normalised all that stuff." He added: "With Brennan, you know I spoke about it that he comes in, works hard at his game and when you're an attacking player, you're always kind of getting measured against certain things.

"I said, if he can get through this period and just be positive and play like he can, he can be a significant contributor to us and credit to him. He got a good goal."

Johnson signed for Tottenham in a £47.5m deal from Nottingham Forest last summer.
