Send Push

Tottenham made it three wins from three in the Europa League following a 1-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday evening. Ange Postecoglou once again made a host of changes for Spurs' return to Europe, .

was one of those to come into the team and players such as Fraser Forster, Ben Davies and were also handed some much-needed minutes. Moore was inches away from opening the scoring five minutes into the contest after narrowly heading wide Timo Werner's inviting cross.

Werner was to have a chance of his own 20 minutes later but . Tottenham then needed Forster to be at the top of his game as he produced a brilliant one-handed save to keep out Alexandre Penetra's header.

Spurs did manage to open the scoring in the 53rd minute with Richarlison converting from the penalty spot after Bergvall was fouled. The hosts created a few more opportunities after that but they couldn't grab a second goal against AZ, who were reduced to ten men in the closing minutes following David Moller Wolfe's red card.

Here's how we rated the Tottenham players in the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:

Fraser Forster

Handed a rare start between the sticks and was alert on a couple of occasions in the first half to deny AZ. Firstly, he produced a brilliant one-handed from Penetra's header and then was out of his net quickly just before half-time to win the ball with AZ in a dangerous position. Made a good save from Mayckel Lahdo in the closing stages. 8

Archie Gray

Given a tough test coming up against Ernest Poku and was in a few tricky situations but coped well on the whole. Some more European experience to his name. 6

Radu Dragusin

Back in the team in Europe after serving his one-match ban and made some vital blocks when AZ looked to attack. Strong showing. 7

Ben Davies

Good performance at the back despite a lack of regular minutes of late. Another who will have really benefited from plenty of pitch time. 6

Destiny Udogie

Got forward and looked to attack at every opportunity. Always an outlet for Spurs and caused problems for the visitors. 7

Rodrigo Bentancur

Used the ball really well in the middle of the park as he looked to get Tottenham on the attack. Integral role in helping Tottenham win a penalty following a fantastic ball to release Maddison in the area and then made a vital tackle on Poku in the box when the AZ ace looked set to shoot. Very impressive on the night. 8

Lucas Bergvall

Produced a majestic pirouette on seven minutes that excited the home fans and midway inside the first half he wowed again with a sublime pass with the outside of his boot to set Werner free. Was the man to be fouled in the area for Spurs' penalty after getting on the end of Maddison's touch. 7

James Maddison

Captained the team with Cristian Romero on the bench and Son Heung-min absent altogether. Very lively start to proceedings as he made life difficult for AZ with his movement and quality on the ball and continued to wow throughout the game. Made a brilliant run to get on the end of Bentancur's pass that resulted in Spurs winning a penalty, which he allowed Richarlison to take following a debate between the duo seconds earlier. 8

Mikey Moore

Handed his full Tottenham home debut and second successive start in Europe. The youngster was inches away from opening the scoring after five minutes with his header from Werner's cross just going wide of the post. Had a few good runs in the first half and switched to the left flank at the start of the second half after Werner's exit. Immediately went on a mazy run that led to a chance for Brennan Johnson and continued to cause the visitors a host of issues after that with his positive running. Received a standing ovation when substituted in the final few minutes. 8

Richarlison

Named in the starting XI for the first time this season and worked hard to create a few openings for the hosts. Scored from the penalty spot early in the second half as he dinked the ball down the middle of the goal. Got 64 minutes in the tank and that will have done him the world of good after his recent absence through injury. 7

Timo Werner

Put in a lovely delivery from the left flank that Moore almost headed home inside the first five minutes. Really should have done better with a chance inside the box but his attempt was so tame and proved rather comfortable for Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro, before later firing wide from a tight angle not long after. Does a lot of things right in regards to his general play but it's his last action in crucial positions that is letting him down at present. Replaced at the break. 5

Substitutes

Brennan Johnson (Timo Werner, 46)

Saw a shot deflected with his first touch of the ball after a brilliant run from Moore. 6

Dominic Solanke (Richarlison, 64)

Led the line for Tottenham late on after Richarlison made way. 6

Dejan Kulusevski (Lucas Bergvall, 72)

Came on to add his quality and help Tottenham secure another win. 6

Pape Matar Sarr (James Maddison, 72)

Added some energy to midfield for the closing stages. 6

Wilson Odobert (Mikey Moore, 87)

Made his return to action in the last couple of minutes in a bright cameo. N/A
