It does not feel like that long ago that the closed, but we are already looking ahead to the next window opening. The will open for business in just over two months' time leading to plenty of speculation around players' futures.

The winter window is not usually a busy one, with clubs preferring to get their business done in the summer windows, while using January to scout around and see what's available. More often than not, though, prices are inflated with teams unwilling to lose their prize assets, putting clubs off making moves.

But the January window can be used to come to pre-agreements with foreign clubs over signing their out of contract players in the summer for free, something teams have done in the past.

That rule does not allow for clubs to talk to rival clubs' players, however, meaning anyone whose contract expires in the summer will have to wait to have conversations with English rivals over a summer move.
