Strictly Come Dancing contestant Montell Douglas has revealed she thought her "life might end" during her BBC One show debut last weekend.

The Gladiators star performed on the dancing show for the first time on Saturday (September 24) night with professional partner Johannes Radebe and the pair elegantly performed the Foxtrot to Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby by Dinah Washington, initiating their quest to claim the Glitterball.

Fitted out in a delicate lace number complemented with gossamer details, Montell certainly turned heads, while Johannes stepped out looking sharp in a white shirt paired with a cream vest and coordinating tie set against pin-striped trousers.

They scored a sound 26 out of 40 and spoke to Strictly It Takes Two host Janette Manrara during Wednesday's (September 25) episode of the spin-off show about their performance.

Montell said: "Honestly I did feel multiple times that my life might end but he was there to catch me when I fell but had. a great time. I enjoyed it and it was a different side to me which was kind of tapped in to."

Prior to their performance, host Claudia Winkleman remarked on how stunning the couple looked, dubbing them "Mojo". "Well, we are getting married," quipped Montell, prompting a wave of chuckles throughout the Strictly troupe, with Claudia chiming in: "You're all invited."

This week, Montell and Johannes are dancing the Samba and the Gladiator has let slip what fans can expect. She said: "I'm definitely loving the freeness. Speed is my game so hopefully that will be a positive."

Currently leading the betting odds are X Factor victor Shayne Ward and JLS celebrity JB Gill although former professional dancer Erin Boag has cautioned that Miranda star Sarah Hadland is also a strong contender.
