Send Push

All 20 Premier League managers have been providing updates on their injured stars ahead of a return to action this weekend.

While some top-flight teams were in European action during the week, others had a few days off for their players to push closer to a return to action. Those European games also produced fresh issues for some, though, with Arsenal's Riccardo Calafiori and Manchester United's Antony forced off early in their respective matches.

Arsenal's meeting with on Sunday is one of the standout matches for the neutral. Arne Slot's visitors have a chance to extend their lead at the top of the table with a victory, with the gap between the sides in first and third sitting at four points before kick-off.

There is plenty of interest across the competition, though, with matches on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Here, Mirror Football provides the latest from all 20 teams.

Arsenal

have been without captain Martin Odegaard since September, though the Norwegian is expected back in time for his country's November internationals. They have also been without Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney for recent weeks, with neither expected to return against Liverpool, and William Saliba will miss the game through suspension.

The bigger question surrounds . The England star picked up a hamstring problem while turning out for his national team against , and Arsenal boss was pessimistic about the winger's involvement earlier in the week.

Riccardo Calafiori is also a major doubt out after suffering a knee injury in the midweek victory over Shakhtar Donetsk. And Arteta suggested the situation regarding Saka, Calafiori and Jurrien Timber is "uncertain", with all three missing Friday's training session.

"We are going to do our very best to somehow have them available. But it's very, very uncertain," he explained. On Saka specifically, he added: "He's done a bit of training on the grass. How far we can get him before Sunday, that's another question. We have another day, that's a good thing. But we will see."

Aston Villa

Aston Villa will be without Jaden Philogene for the visit of . The winger is suspended after being sent off towards the end of Villa's win against last time out.

There are no injury concerns for Unai Emery's side, and Tyrone Mings could be in contention after returning to the bench for the midweek victory over Bologna. It was Mings' first inclusion in a matchday squad since he suffered an ACL injury on the opening weekend of last season

Bournemouth image

Alex Scott and Luis Sinisterra are both unavailable for the Cherries, with Scott the longer-term of the two absentees. The former Bristol City star missed a chunk of last season through injury, but had featured in every league game this term before his latest setback.

"He felt after training this week that his knee was blocked," manager Andoni Iraola said of Scott. "We did an MRI and they could see it was in the meniscus. We decided to have the surgery and lucky for him the surgery could repair his meniscus, even if it means he will be out for a little bit more time."

Iraola added that Sinisterra returned from international duty with a hamstring complaint. The Colombian made a cameo from the bench against Arsenal last weekend, but will be missing against Aston Villa on Saturday.

"He could play the game and continue training but there was a moment this week where he felt he could not continue," Iraola said. "It does not look like something big, it may be a matter of just one week. He is definitely out for tomorrow though, yes."

Brentford image

Brentford remain without Igor Thiago after the summer signing was injured in pre-season, while Aaron Hickey and Gustavo Nunes are both some way from a return. However, some of the Bees' other injury absentees are closer and one could even feature against Ipswich this weekend.

Mathias Jensen returned against , while Rico Henry and Josh Dasilva are both on the comeback trail.

Brighton

Brighton are looking light up front, with Danny Welbeck stretchered off during the win at and Joao Pedro already sidelined. There had been fears Welbeck could face an extended period out, but manager Fabian Hurzeler delivered the surprising news that he could be available to face on Saturday.

image

"It's too early to say if he can play or not, but he will train today and then we will see afterwards how this training session goes and then we will make a decision," Hurzeler said on Thursday. However, the manager couldn't give an exact date on Joao Pedro's return and also indicated winger Yankuba Minteh might not be risked.

"We have to go day by day. He has a small issue with his muscle after his international games with Gambia," the manager explained. "But one thing is clear, we won't take any risk with the players because it's still early in the season and the hard period of the is still in front of us."

Matt O'Riley and Adam Webster are still sidelined, while no update has been given on James Milner's return date. Solly March is being given more time, having returned to action with the under-21s after a lengthy lay-off, but there is some good news with Hurzeler indicating Simon Adingra could be in line for a return.

Chelsea image

Chelsea are at near full-strength for their match against Newcastle. Omari Kellyman isn't yet fit to play a part, though, having picked up a hamstring injury after joining from Aston Villa over the summer.

and Romeo Lavia both returned to action last time out against Liverpool. Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana missed that game through suspension, but both are available for selection once more.

Crystal Palace

Palace are expected to be without defenders Chadi Riad and Chris Richards until after the November international break. Matt Turner is available again, though, having been ineligible to face parent club on Monday.

image

Matheus Franca also remains sidelined, with the Brazilian yet to feature this term, but Cheick Doucoure is closer to a comeback. The 24-year-old midfielder has missed Palace's last four games, and has played just 91 minutes of league football this term.

Everton

are expected to welcome back Jarrad Branthwaite and Jesper Lindstrom against Fulham after the pair missed last weekend's win at Ipswich through injury and illness respectively. However, manager Sean Dyche is still without several first-teamers.

"I made a call on it last week and decided not to go with him in the squad because I think it was important for him to have a week's training - a clear week's training - which he has done, so, yes, he will certainly be part of the squad," Dyche said of Branthwaite. James Garner is out with a back problem, though, while the Toffees are some way away from welcoming back Armando Broja, Youssef Chermiti and Tim Iroegbunam.

image

"Broja is getting on the edge of coming into training," Dyche said. "He's doing loads of work with the sports science team. [We will give him a] soft start and see where that goes, but hopefully, that will continue because he's making good progress."

Summer signing Broja and fellow forward Chermiti could return after the November internatioanl break. Iroegbunam is expected to be out a little longer, though, with Dyche confirming the midfielder is still wearing a protective boot.

Fulham

Joachim Andersen is suspended for Fulham after his red card against Aston Villa, but fellow defender Jorge Cuenca is in contention to replace him after recovering from an ankle injury. Carlos Vinicius is also in contention to return, having not played at all this season.

image

“Jorge Cuenca and Carlos Vinicius are going in the right direction,” manager Marco Silva said on Thursday. “The last two, three days, they have been working with the team, step by step, [and] they are going to be available for the next match.

“Tomorrow we have another session, we are going to assess them and to decide who are going to be the players that are going to be on the squad list. But yes, those two are closer, and tomorrow I'm going to decide if they can be in the squad list or not."

The game has come too early for Sasa Lukic and Timothy Castagne, though. Lukic is not expected back for another three or four weeks, while Castagne has yet to recover from the injury he sustained on Belgium duty.

Ipswich image

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna has admitted his team is in a "challenging" position when it comes to injuries. Axel Tuanzebe, Massimo Luongo, Jacob Greaves, Ben Johnson and Janoi Donacien are all sidelined, but at least one or two of that quintet can be expected back before the next international break.

Ali Al Hamadi and Jens Cajuste could feature against Brentford, though. "Jens has trained in the last two days, so we’ll have to make a judgement tomorrow as to whether he can be involved in the game and for how long," McKenna said on Thursday.

Leicester

Leicester's injury list is expected to ease in the coming weeks, though they're still without Hamza Choudhury, Jakub Stolarczyk and Patson Daka. Jannik Vestergaard is also missing after suffering a setback, though Steve Cooper hopes the Dane can return soon.

image

“Jannik had a recurrence with his ankle on [matchday] minus one which ruled him out of selection for ,” Cooper said ahead of Friday's meeting with Nottingham Forest. “It was a bit of a pity because he got some good minutes with the national team last week and it was good to get him back involved."

Daka has yet to feature after picking up an injury in pre-season, but Cooper said the striker is nearing a return. "Pato has been on the grass and is a bit more progressive with his rehab. He seems to be getting closer," the manager added.

Liverpool

Alisson and Harvey Elliott were already ruled out for Liverpool's trip to Arsenal, while there were questions over Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa and Conor Bradley. Now it appears Jota, who was injured against last weekend, won't be available to return.

image

"I think they feel good but not when it comes to playing for us during the weekend," manager said of those three. "Federico might train with us today or tomorrow, but Jota definitely not [available against Arsenal] and Conor Bradley, let's see if he can be with us tomorrow."

Slot also said Alisson's recovery from a hamstring injury is going to plan. "Progressing well like we expect but it's not a shot-term recovery, so difficult to judge him," the Dutchman said. "The best way to judge an injury us at the end phase of his rehab and he's not there yet. I can't tell you how long he will be out but don't expect him to be at in the cup or next week."

Manchester City

Kevin De Bruyne and remain unavailable for against Southampton. The champions were already without long-term absenteed Rodri and Oscar Bobb, while Jeremy Doku and aren't expected to return until November.

image

Asked about De Bruyne, Guardiola said: “No, not yet [available]. I don't know. Yes, of course, I prefer to have all the squad for the amount of games, but it is what it is. Hopefully he comes back soon, I don't know yet. I'd like to tell you but I don't know. I don't know, I'm sorry.”

City struggled against Wolves last time out before claiming a last-gasp win, and Guardiola isn't underestimating visitors Southampton. "After games, I prefer to play teams who are better in the table because you focus more and not look at that. But it is what it is," he said.

Manchester United

Antony added his name to Manchester United's injury list when he was forced off in Thursday night's draw with Fenerbahce. “It's really unlucky for him," manager Erik ten Hag said. "I feel real compassion for him, when he worked so hard in training.

image

"His training performances are that good that he deserved to come on. When you have to come off so quickly, that is really sad to see. Hopefully, it’s not too bad, we have to wait 24 hours for what the assessment is.”

United are already without , Leny Yoro, , and Tyrell Malacia for their trip to West Ham. There's no news yet on a return date for , who missed the last two league games, while Jonny Evans sat out Thursday's Europa League outing after picking up a knock in the victory over Brentford but Ten Hag is hopeful the veteran will be available.

Newcastle

is still some way from a return for . The striker has yet to play this term, but there had been some optimism he might be able to return to the matchday squad this weekend before Eddie Howe shut down those suggestions.

image

"We're going to lose Callum for the next three games definitely," Howe said. "He's suffered some tightness in his body and he hasn't felt like he could kick on to the last part he needed.

"He had trained with us and had looked really good but with Callum, he's hyper-sensitive and we're hyper-sensitive to the work. It's no injury as such, he's just not ready to come back again."

Nottingham Forest

Forest remain without long-term absentees Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare for their meeting with . There's more positive news as far as Morgan Gibbs-White is concerned, though, with manager Nuno providing an update, and James Ward-Prowse is available again after a one-match ban.

image

"It's a day-by-day process," Nuno said of Gibbs-White on Wednesday. "He's better today - let's hope he is better tomorrow and we can keep assessing."

Southampton

Ryan Fraser will miss Southampton's game against through suspension, but Jack Stephens is available again after a ban of his own. On the injury front, Gavin Bazunu is out until the new year with an achilles rupture, while Will Smallbone and Ross Stewart are unavailable and Yukinari Sugawara is a doubt.

image

“Yuki had to come off, so we’re having to manage him a little bit this week," manager Russell Martin told reporters. "Another 24 hours will depend on if he’s ready to start or not, so we’ll have to make a decision on that.

“Will Smallbone is out now for a little bit of time, which is really frustrating and disappointing for us. Ross [Stewart] is also out for a period of time, which is so disappointing for him and for us.”

Tottenham

manager Ange Postecoglou doesn't expect Son Heung-min to be available this weekend. The captain returned from a hamstring injury to play and score against last weekend, but missed the match against AZ.

"Sonny's still not right, still not feeling 100 per cent," Postecoglou said on Friday. "He won't train today, so he's unlikely for this weekend and we'll see after that."

image

Lucas Bergvall went off with cramp in the AZ game, while Djed Spence could be in contention after training alone during the week. Spurs are up against on Sunday afternoon.

West Ham

West Ham will be without Mohammed Kudus for the visit of . The Ghana international was sent off in the defeat at Spurs, and .

Summer signing Niclas Fullkrug is also not expected to play a part after suffering a setback in his recovery from the injury he picked up on international duty in September. The German has missed the last five Premier League matches with an achilles issue.

Wolves image

Gary O'Neil has a number of long-term injury issues to deal with, including likely season-enders for Yerson Mosquera and Enso Gonzalez. Boubacar Traore and Sasa Kalajdzic are also some way off a return, though Hwang Hee-chan could return a little sooner following an ankle problem.

Wolves keeper Sam Johnstone missed last week's defeat against Manchester City with an adductor strain, but should be able to return against Brighton. "Sam has trained this week and we will see where he is before making a call tomorrow," O'Neil said on Friday.
