The Egyptian is out of contract in the summer, with there being no indication he will extend his stay at Anfield. Salah is in red hot form so far this season having scored five goals and registered five assists in eight games this term, helping Liverpool to the top of the Premier League.

The 32-year-old is also not the only player out of contract this summer either. Both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are also out of contract come the end of the season.

However, the latter of those two told reporters after Liverpool's 2-1 win over Chelsea that he had begun talks with the club over a new deal which would see the Dutchman extend his stay at Anfield.

But when it comes to Salah, ex-Liverpool star Hamann reckons that it might be time for the Reds to let the Egyptian leave at the end of the season.

Speaking to , Hamann said: "At Mohamed Salah's age, his powers can vanish at some point. It's harder to stay fit and at your best as a forward as you get older.

"I think Liverpool should prioritize keeping Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, and take their time on Salah and see if he still scores lots of goals as usual. If it's the right time to part ways, then Salah might take a deal to go to Saudi Arabia, we'll see."

Liverpool.com says: "It will be interesting to see just how Liverpool approach the Salah contract situation, especially if he continues to produce the form he has for the rest of the season. If he does, then there's a high chance the Reds will win the Premier League this term. If they do, then they may see it as the perfect opportunity to bring their relationship to an end. But if they do opt to take that course of action, Liverpool will have to fork out a monstrous sum to replace the Egyptian."
