Though he was able to play on, Arteta opted to sub him off just before the hour mark and he was then spotted with ice on the area that was stamped on. While a painful one, it was seemingly just an impact injury and therefore he has been deemed fit for selection by Arteta.

"Yeah, we have to wait and see now how he reacts after the session, but he's nothing too serious," "I think he would have a good chance to play tomorrow [Wednesday]. It was not so good news on Riccardo Calafiori or Jorginho, however.

The latter picked up a rib issue in the 1-1 draw with Brentford earlier this month and it is set to keep him absent for the next few weeks, as confirmed by Arteta. "I hope so, but I'm not certain," he added when asked if he could play again this season

"We have to see how he works in the next few days, I would say, a few weeks. So the doctor was quite cautious still about talking about any dates. So let's see. Good news is that he's improving. He's feeling much better. It was a quite scary situation, and he's in a good place now."

Calafiori was also ruled out by Arteta with the Spaniard going on to offer his verdict on how much of a concern his injury issues from this season are.

"Well three of the injuries, obviously, they are impact injuries," he said. "One is a really bad twist that could have been worse, to be fair, and it's managing the player as well. So now we learn many more things about the player and how we can be much more on top of certain situations to try to prevent them.

"But it's true that the two main ones, they've been really unlucky and very little that we could have done differently."

Gabriel Jesus, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Gabriel Magalhaes and Kai Havertz are also currently unavailable due to injury but there is a chance the latter plays again this season, especially if Arsenal reach the Champions League final.
