The bankrupt reality star owns hairless cats Dobby and Hagrid, and in September, she revealed she had bought another sphynx cat called Daisy. According to The Sun, Katie tried to sell Dobby and Hagrid in 2017 for £1,300 because they didn’t get on with her , but it seems she wasn’t successful in getting rid of them as the felines have appeared in photos ever since.
Earlier this year, Katie confessed she had to have her sphynx cat Frog put down after it developed a “neurological disease” which impacted its movement. Writing in her memoir This Is Me, she recalled: “There was absolutely nothing I could do. Within days it had spread through his body right to the point that he couldn't even go to the toilet on his own. So I cuddled him in my arms and he had to be put to sleep. He was only five months old.”
The reality star has faced harsh criticism after it emerged seven of her pets had died in her care in just six years. Katie lost five dogs, including her daughter Princess’ beloved puppy who was crushed beneath a recliner chair, a horse and a chameleon. She’s also suffered the loss of her sphynx cat Frog, and animal charities have called for her to be banned from owning pets.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) even offered Katie £5,000 in exchange for signing a legally binding contract that forbade her from owning another animal, while a petition was launched to campaign for her to be given a lifetime ban on owning pets. PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk said Katie “doesn’t care about the lives” of her pets, and fumed: “If there was a way to file an injunction to stop this serial animal killer, PETA would do so.” She told The Sun: “PETA’s financial offer – of £5,000 if she agrees never to acquire any more animals – still stands, and we implore her to take us up on it.”
