Singer James Blake has sent his fans a plea after becoming disgruntled by rising ticket prices.
Following the 'dynamic pricing' scandal involving Oasis and Ticketmaster last month and yesterday's chaos for Coldplay tickets, the artist admitted enough is enough. He took to Instagram to share an important message with his followers as he promised he wouldn't "rip them off".
Sharing a lengthy statement to his followers, the partner of Jameela Jamil said he was posting his "scattered thoughts on a big topic". The statement told his fans to sign up to his mailing list others "you might never hear about any of my shows".
"I'm not going through the monopolies anymore," he revealed. "I'm not having my fans and myself be ripped off by people who don't care the way we do about live music.".
He blasted an apparent restriction on his posts from stopping him getting news out about any upcoming gigs. He continued: "I refuse to subject my fans to the ridiculous amounts of unexplainable hidden fees they have to pay to come see me live. It's not just the ones you see at the checkout..."
James went on to hit out at companies who are robbing both the artists and their fans, claiming to know people who have lost money during their tours. After sharing a number of screenshots of his fans' comments, James concluded: "To all artists out there - the humble mailing list is your way out of this. I love you."
He revealed in the caption of the post that he was at the "beginning on the long road of reconnecting" with fans. He added that at the age of 16, his biggest ambition was to be performing and, while that is happening, he now states his current ambition is to "help other musicians express themselves and cut out the middle men".
His shocking post was met with huge applaud in the comments section. While some fans claimed they hadn't been seeing his updates, others shared their "appreciation" at his stance. One user wrote: "Dude I so appreciate this post. As a pro musician that was blessed to play with a lot of “big” artists. I can say that these things you post about is exactly why I shifted my career so that I could save music for myself and create holistic wellness programs for artists in their recovery and process of “big music” … it reminds me of all the other sick industries. Keep sharing brother. We are with you."
