'I know Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool and earn more than Cristiano Ronaldo'

Gabriel Agbonlahor claims he knows Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, having already agreed a staggering deal to move to Saudi Arabia.

Salah is in the final year of his contract at Anfield, with Liverpool facing a race against time if they’re to extend his stay at the club. With just over three months until the January transfer window opens, the 32-year-old will soon be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs.

The Egyptian has already addressed his future this season, revealing after the win over Manchester United that he has not yet held any talks over a new contract with the Reds.

"Honestly I had a good summer, I had a long time to stay with myself and try to think positive. As you know it's my last year in the club,” Salah said.

"I just want to enjoy it and not think about it. I feel I'm free to play football and we'll see what will happen next year.

“Nobody talked to me yet about contracts, so I just play my last season, and we'll see at the end of the season. But so far, yeah, my last game here with Liverpool."

Salah has been continually linked with a move to Saudi Arabia over the past year, with Al Ittihad having had a $200m (£150m/€180m) bid rejected last summer. Despite the interest from the Middle East, reports earlier this month suggested he is ‘desperate’ to stay at Liverpool.

Agbonlahor claims he has heard differently though. Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Aston Villa striker insisted a move to Saudi Arabia is already on the cards.

“I know Salah’s going. I’ve got a source that told me Salah’s definitely going,” Agbonlahor said. Asked where by host Alan Brazil, Agbonlahor responded: “Saudi, on a record contract.

“I’m hearing that he will earn more than [Cristiano] Ronaldo, he’ll be the face of the football over there. You can’t turn that down if you’re Mo Salah. He’s done everything at Liverpool hasn’t he?”

Liverpool.com says: Something tells us we might have heard this from a more reliable source than Gabby Agbonlahor if this was true. If nothing else, it’s not even January yet, so Salah can’t have anything sorted yet.

Saudi Arabia will of course be the obvious link, but Salah has shown he still has plenty to offer in Europe, rather than move to a glorified retirement league. Even if he doesn’t stay at Liverpool, he’s far too good to be playing in the Middle East just yet.
