A weather forecaster has shared the exact day he predicts the UK will bask in temperatures of 20C or more.

"Warm to HOT for October is set to arrive on cue, but it won't be entirely straightforward for certain dates we have covered," he wrote in a post shared on .

He added that the mercury could be set to soar as early as the middle of next week. "High pressure rises towards the start of the upcoming week will allow for some much warmer conditions for the time of the year across some large parts of the UK and Ireland," he continued.
"Temperatures well in excess of the October average of 14C and with temperatures as warm as in excess of 20C or the low 20s at the very least in the warmest spots of the country around midweek."
Madden said the unseasonably warm weather would briefly be put to a stop days after its arrival, with Friday (October 18) ushering in "a major area of low pressure". "Many northern parts of the country and across Ireland are likely to become temporarily and very unsettled over a number of days," he continued.
"It could also become temporarily cooler and unsettled in other parts of the country," he added. However, he added: "It is also around next weekend at the latest that we also expect some even more significant high pressure rises to start taking effect and drawing some further warmer to even HOT temperatures for October across our shores for the time of year and for several days."
The Met Office's prediction from Tuesday-Thursday (October 15-17) also states the weather should get warmer, but does not predict an Indian Summer. "Heavier rain spreads in from the south on Tuesday and Wednesday and it will turn warmer across the country. Cooler from Thursday with a few showers and sunny spells."
Similarly, its long-range forecast from Thursday until October 26 states conditions are likely to be "unsettled". "Through the second half of next week conditions will be very unsettled with rain affecting most regions at times," the forecaster predicted.
"The heaviest rain is likely to be in the west or southwest to begin with, but later in the week, the focus probably shifting to central and eastern areas. Following the rain, a drier and brighter interlude is probable, before conditions turn unsettled once again by next weekend."
That same weekend will see temperatures which are "above average and probably feeling warm in the brighter spells," while the end of the month will bring a period of "more settled conditions" but will see "temperatures falling closer to average and some overnight frost and fog."
