EastEnders' Jean Slater in heartbreaking scam as real culprit 'revealed'

Good news reached Jean Slater during this Wednesday's trip to Walford but could someone be trying to scam her?

The beloved cleaner, portrayed by , has been standing on the sidelines of all the drama in the soap, but as her relationship with Harvey Monroe () is still suffering from his bond with Maya, the pair have been at odds with one another in recent scenes of the long-running drama.

However, this Wednesday (October 30), Jean tried to patch things up with Harvey with a thoughtful meal - before she was completely taken by surprise by a letter according to which she was entitled to £12k due to her pension.

Jean and Harvey celebrated the good news, a welcome boost for her finances as the Slaters have notoriously Later on, she was seen chatting on the phone, giving her details away to a mystery caller, supposedly helping her finalise the cash transfer, with Kojo Asare ().

Understandably, Jean was over the moon to be receiving some extra cash but viewers of the long-running show will know that not everything is ever as it seems on the Square and a mystery enemy could be up to no good.

Jean has recently been on Kat Slater's () hit list, and the latter has no intention of resolving the conflict after finding out Jean had called social services on her as Could it be enough for Kat to seek revenge by playing a cruel trick on Jean?

While this is a possibility, another strong contender who would be able and willing to scan Jean remains Maya Houssain (), who hasn't been seen in Walford since August 2024. During her appearance in the programme, Maya was introduced as the bereft widow of a man who passed away last year and reached out to Harvey.

Amid theories the pair could have an affair, it was then revealed that Maya's husband was very much alive but still recovering from his attack by Harvey's son, Aaron, who has been incarcerated after attempting to plant a bomb in Walford.

Maya later admitted she'd been trying to get money from Harvey for revenge but the pair, who had grown into fast friends, eventually parted ways as Maya changed her ways. Unable to get what she originally wanted from Harvey, could she decide to make Jean pay, particularly after the latter wasn't keen on her beau bonding with another woman behind her back?

Jean may also get a nasty surprise from Harvey after he shared a kiss with Kathy Beale (), Jean's pal, in previous scenes. This Wednesday, Harvey made the decision to tell his partner the truth but eventually backtracked, using Jean's family drama with Kat as an excuse to keep schtum. How will the truth come to light?
