BBC Strictly star breaks down as Nick Knowles issues five-word reply about exit

Nick Knowles appeared on Monday's episode of Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two following his show exit.

The DIY SOS star, 62, became the third celebrity eliminated from the 20th anniversary series of the hit One dance show on Sunday night. It comes as Nick returned to the dancing competition this weekend, having missed out on movie week following an injury to his knee.

Appearing on Monday's show, Nick's pro partner Luba Mushtuk broke down in tears as the duo watched an emotional montage of their best moments on the show. A tearful Luba, 34, emotionally said after the sweet video: "Yes", before composing herself.

"Thank you, thank you for being you and for being an incredible student. I loved every single moment, we'll still dance again!"

Elsewhere during the interview, Nick had a five-word response over his show exit, saying: "It was the right result!"

He explained: "I had a week off and you can see actually everyone had progressed a lot in that week, I just didn't have time to be able to catch up and do well enough to stay in the competition.

"I think it was the right result in the end and it means I can now get the various bits of me that are falling off sorted out. Literally, I might have an operation on the arm this week and then another operation on the knee in a couple or three weeks' time. So I can get myself sorted!"

During Sunday’s results show, Nick and his professional dance partner Luba faced the dreaded dance-off against former winner Shayne Ward and his dance partner Nancy Xu.

Shayne and Nancy performed their cha cha to Ain’t No Love (Ain’t No Use) by Sub Sub featuring Melanie Williams while Nick and Luba danced their Charleston to Rain On The Roof from the Paddington 2 soundtrack.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke won the majority vote as they all chose to save Shayne and Nancy, with head judge agreeing with their decision.

It comes as Nick injured his knee during rehearsals on the Friday prior to last week's Saturday night show, saying "it was a huge disappointment". He previously obtained an injury to his shoulder and arm while changing a car tyre.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday, October 19 at 6.25pm with the results show on October 20 at 7.20pm also on BBC One.
