Jaisalmer: Battle Axe Division of Indian Army contained a major forest fire in Mount Abu that broke out on March 29, imperilling nearby settlements and ecologically vulnerable areas.
Officials said Sunday that upon receiving an urgent requisition from local authorities, military personnel of Battle Axe Division from Mount Abu Military Station responded by deploying two columns. Each column comprised trained personnel equipped for emergency operations. Supplementary support was furnished through two water bowsers and an ambulance to assist in firefighting and medical necessities.
The teams swiftly accessed the affected area and were segregated into smaller tactical units to establish containment lines, impeding the fire's progression. Seamless coordination with the local administration and emergency services ensured a systematic and proficient response, officials said.
The intervention of the Army averted significant environmental and structural devastation and saved lives, property, and wildlife.
